Artist History
Five Wheel Drive began with the vision of guitarist-songwriter Dale La Duke. Along with guitarist Frank Spano and lead vocalist Kris Garrett, La Duke left the band Clear County Line and recruited singer Jennifer Nevin and later Karla Kelly to forge a country-pop band fronted by a three-woman vocal dream team. There was a bit of skepticism about La Duke's vision; a quintet featuring three vocal leads is a rare combination. His doubts lasted until the minute the girls first sang together. Hearing the three voices harmonize for the first time brought that proverbial "Wow" to all their lips. From that point on there has been no doubt in the collective Five Wheel Drive mind about the band's direction; their aspirations are limitless. Five Wheel Drive is not just some fly-by-night, Nashville honky-tonk production.Five Wheel Drive isn't sitting around waiting to strike gold; they are digging hard. Recruited by television stars Jenna Elfman and Tom Gibson, Five Wheel Drive played on the set of the hit show Dharma and Greg as a gift to the cast and crew. Their song "Good As It Gets" will be on the soundtrack of the indie film Felons. There's a good chance Five Wheel Drive will enjoy popularity beyond the local realm. With an audience of listeners yearning for great harmonies in country acts such as The Dixie Chicks and The Kinleys, Five Wheel Drive's unique "vocal dream team" may someday be a regular spotlight on The Nashville Network. |
