Artist description
There is no band per se - as I said I'm a songwriter and haven't played out in years. (You see, I like to eat!) I have a master's degree in social work and that's how I keep the farm. But believe me, being a professional therapist certainly provides grist for the songwriting mill. But I still want to mention some of the musicians I've worked with. I'm really amazed when I look at their talents and track records. First of all, would you believe that on one of my demos, Cyndi Lauper is singing backup for me! (Hi, Cyndi!) We were very close in the "glory days" when we were starving but having the times of our lives. Back then, I wrote and played with John Turi, who was Cyndi's partner in Blue Angel. At that time, I also wrote and co-produced with Eric (ET) Thorngren and Frank Fillipeti. Eric went on to produce Peter Wolfe, the Talking Heads and Robert Palmer's " Addicted to Love". Frank went on to engineer just about everybody including Barbara. He won a Grammy last year for producer of the year for James Taylor's album. The songs you hear feature David Burke on drums and Gram Mabey on bass. Both of them were on hiatus from a tour with Shania Twain at the time of recording. Last but not least is Larry Federman on guitar. I heard him in 1985 and haven't considered another guitarist since. (I love ya', Lar!) So all of this is starting to sound like a "Who's Who". Unfortunately, I'm probably the only one you've never heard of! But I bet I get an "A" in everybody's book for effort...'cause I'm still trying. |

Musical Influences
As a songwriter,I have the freedom to draw from a broad spectrum of artists and musical influences-and I do. However, over the years, some of the most enduring influences have included McCartney and Lennon, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Linda Ronstadt (who has mastered so many genres), Emmylou (whose perfect voice can literally alter my seratonin levels), Willie Nelson and Kris, Bette, Jennifer Warnes, Elton, Trisha, LEONARD COHEN, Smokey, Vivaldi, Saint Saens and my current idol, Gretchen Peters. |

I have a maddeningly unique voice. But the sound is sweet and heartfelt. If you want rap or heavy metal, don' t click on me. |

Artist History
I guess that's me. I've been writing since I learned my first 3 chords at 15. I eventually moved to Manhattan, made some home demos (on reel to reel!) and started shopping them. I walked right from Sixth Avenue into "the black rock" which is what they called the CBS building back then. Within half an hour I had publishing offers on 2 of the four songs on the demo! Not bad, I must say. Well, that's all it took. I was hooked. After that I got some offers on other songs from RCA's publishing arm. But I opted to go with a small, unknown publisher who was retiring as president of a record company and trying his luck at song plugging. Unfortunately, his luck wasn't too good and since he owned most of my catalog...we pretty much marched into oblivion together. But I've had some successes. I've won some contests an I've had a lot of local air play. Most of all...I've loved every heartbreaking moment! There is no thrill in the world for me like those time when all of the planets line up just right and the pieces of a lyric, melody, or both just fall together. I am sincerely closest to God when that happens. |
