Artist description
This band finds its roots among the fringe dwellers of contemporary popular music and shares poetic concerns with the likes of Nick Drake, David Bowie, Tom Waits, and Donald Fagan. Irreverent, filled with longing, lacking all pretense, this is raw and unassuming music at its finest. Boasting an exquisite team of Bay Area musicians, Captain Tonic builds a musical landscape of longing, a landscape which is both gentle and tragic. You will be lead on a melancholic journey through a sad and gorgeous country, a lyrical fun-house populated with an arsenal of delicious headaches, high-swinging monkeys, little angry men called Moses, and dangerous TV dinners. This is a world in which heartbreak is as much a creature as any chicken or puppy dog. Loneliness works its insidious magic beneath a bemused lyrical stare. |
