METAL MANIACS
(Jeff Wagner).....
MAIDEN AMERICA-
Iron Maiden Tribute and American Metal Compilation.....
(Twilitght Records).....
BORN OF FIRE.....
Remember Tomorrow.....
A challenging tune considering the rising and falling dynamics
But Phoenix Arizona's "BORN OF FIRE" come out of it triumphant
thanks especially to vocalist J.Davis' expressive treatment.
Also features guitarist Micha Kite (ex - Psychic Pawn
who put out a remarkable album on Cacophonous in 95 or so).
"Fire and Brimstone" is an ultra symphonic piece
with buzzing speedy guitars and a sublime midsection
plus more good stuff from J.Davis.
Another new band to keep the ears peeled for.

METAL MANIACS-
(Ula Gehret).....
"BORN OF FIRE" .....A five piece power metal band hailing from Phoenix, containing none other than PIT scribe Micha Kite (ex-Bonewire and Psychic Pawn, for a little Cacophonous Records history lesson)among the bands ranks on guitar.
On this four song self-titled CD, the band cranks out '80s-styled heavy metal, the sort of mid-paced, twin-harmony stuff that many of todays bands have sadly long forgotten. Lead bellower J.Davis has a strong and powerful vocal
pressence. He reaches the upper ranges without much effort and works in some nice multi-tracked vocal harmonies to help the material strike an immediate chord with the listener. Some comparisons could be made to such groups
like early Queensryche with touches of bands as disperate as Heir Apparent and Agent Steel during their moodier, more mellow sections. It boast a solid professional approach and I think many fans of old metal would certainly
appreciate hearing another throw-back band such as this...

PROMETHEAN CRUSADE MAGAZINE....
"BORN OF FIRE".....
Ahh, it warms the blood to see US bands keeping it real,
keeping the flame of True Heavy Metal burning.
Phoenix's Born Of Fire treat us to four self-produced songs
of deliciously melodic and emotionally tantalizing classic Metal
in the vein of The Warning-era QUEENSRYCHE
without the Old School feel.
It's very contemporary, fluid, and overall haunting in it's display
of the human trait of yearning.
The vocalist is a dead ringer for Geoff Tate in his powerful
Rage For Order days, as he spews precise vocalizations of desire
and discord. The guitar harmonies are both sobering and aggressive
in their goal to achieve a sense of pain and anger.
Periodically, one becomes entranced by the flow of emotive energy
generated by the band, and this deserves commendation, for few bands,
especially unsigned ones, possess this trait, and it is they that will
truly stand the test of time. Born Of Fire is not your average American
Metal band; support them now, for you may see yourself within their music;.
It's a mind-opening experience.

UNDERTOW.....
"BORN OF FIRE".....
TRANSFORMATION.....
People who adore eighties American power metal better pay attention.
Born Of Fire is a band hailing from Phoenix, Arizona and they deliver
here a nine track power metal assault. Founded in 1997 they appeared
for the first time under the spotlight on an Iron Maiden tribute.
In 1999 they recorded a four song demo and then now they strike back
with this full length album. The music B.O.F. plays is in the vein of
The Warning era' Queensr˙che. Vocalist J. Davis delivers an impressive
performance with his operatic haunting powerful vocals and has no
problems to hit the high notes without forcing his voice.
The twin harmony guitars are doing stuff that most young bands don't
even know exists. Most songs are fast and heavy but on a track like
"On The Run" they take their foot from the gas pedal and deliver
a hauntingly beautiful ballad. Born Of Fire is a band that you can put
beside icons like (old)Queensr˙che, Heir Apparent and Agent Steel.
The only thing negative I can say about this disk is the flat
production but just turn up your volume to compensate that and bang
your head on this masterpiece. (8)

MP3: On The Run.....
Rating: 5 fo 5 Stars * * * * *
Progressive Metal like that of Queensryche and Iron Maiden.
This song kicks ass. Great medieval sounding vocals
backed by music that is very opreatic and powerful.
The lyrics are very smart also. The song has it all.

COFFINZ.....
Artist : "BORN OF FIRE".....
CD: Transformation.....
Like the title suggests, Born of Fire has made a "transformation".
Their first full length cd is even better than their last.
Most of the tracks are fast and heavy, but still very powerfully
melodic. They bring back the 80's sound but make it sound even better.
This is a great band with even better talent. I will not be suprised
when these guys get signed someday. Visit their site and listen
to this cd and buy a copy. Look for show dates and be sure to
check them out.

Darkland.....
Hellraiser.....
Ah glory be, American powermetal. You thought it was dead? Not a chance.
These 5 guys from Arizona revive the genre with this incredible debut full length release.
The vocals of J. Davis are VERY similar to those of Geoff Tate. Thoughtful lyrics,
tasty riffs and top notch production make this an essential purchase.
The last song, Fire and Brimstone, is pure beauty. Highly recommended!

EDGE OF TIME.....
BORN OF FIRE promo 2001.....
Very good heavy/power stuff from USA.
Born Of Fire combine on this 3-track promo
strong guitar lead & rhythm parts in veins of modern Iced Earth
or Steel Prophet with a little bit early Queensryche in the vocals.
All three tracks rock very well, especially the third song "In The End"
is a real killer with the best flair from Bruce Dickinson solo works.
Very impressive piece of qualitative heavy metal. I'm looking forward
to hear their new full length CD, 'cause this promo is one of the best
ones I've listened recently to.
Check out great vocals by their singer JDavis. 4 1/4. (SV)

"BORN OF FIRE" - Demo.....
Review by: Robwrong.....
Release date: Available now.....
"BORN OF FIRE" sound like a cross between Iron Maiden and Late 70's Judas Priest. There I said it. I happen to like both those bands too, but not as much as these guys. Born of Fire care about metal, that is one thing for sure...and I lean more towards the Maiden end...as I mentioned earlier. I have read that these guys also sound like Queensryche, but to be honest (gasp!) I haven't listened to much of Queensryche...
The overall feel of this 3-song demo from this 5 piece metal unit is a very 70s serious heavyweight contender as just straight metal is concerned. The vocals lean towards the Bruce Dickinson end a bit much here and there, but what the hell...if I could sing like that I probably would too. He has the range of him, and Rob Halford and he uses it well. Very loud and lots of vibrato. Yeah! The dual guitar work reminds me of the same British variety as I have been talking about. There are a bit of double bass here and there...tons of blazing lead overdubs...sweeps the works. The musicianship is tight and other metal players would totally appreciate that. A bit on the doomy prog side as well. Good stuff for sure.
Even though it's not the most original stuff, it rocks- and serves it's Demo purpose above and beyond the call of duty.
