Artist History AL ATKINS started singing with various blues bands in the sixties music boom and in 1969 he formed his first rock band JUDAS PRIEST. The original line up split up after the first year and then he teamed up with K.K. DOWNING (lead guitar) and IAN HILL (bass) who are still rocking with JUDAS PRIEST now. AL left that project after three years to be replaced by ROB HALFORD. AL went on to form another rock band with the original bass player from the '69 Priest line up BRUNO STAPENHILL and two other players, one being drummer PETE BOOT from Welsh band BUDGIE, they called the band LION. They toured England and Europe until the eighties and the they decided to go their own ways. For a few years AL went into song writing where he had already had success with various bands including writing JUDAS PRIEST'S
