Artist History
In a world where music is either syrupy-sweet teen pop, dangerous gangster rap, inaudible grindcore, or mindless electronica, once in a while, a band emerges that dares to go against the grain. 4X are just such a band. They have drawn a great amount of lyrical inspiration from hardcore acts like the Mentors and G.G. Allin, as well as the musical inspiration from classic rock giants like Kiss, Black Sabbath and AC/DC. 4X have managed to create a truly unique sound that can move, groove, shock, offend and horrify all at the same time.
4X began more than a decade ago. In the winter of 1986, the members of a NJ-based progressive metal band Black Angel simply decided that they just weren't getting anywhere. After being turned on to the Mentors by a friend, the guys in the band decided it was time for a drastic change in direction. After a few nights of heavy binge drinking, pornographic movies, and intense musical brainstorming, Black Angel emerged from the dungeon with a catalog of new songs, a new attitude, and a new name...4X.
After becoming a cult phenomenon on the South Jersey club circuit in the early 90's, along with numerous lineup changes and a long hiatus that send the core members into other projects, 4X has once again emerged to take their rightful place as the kings of East Coast Porn Rock. Their new streamlined 3-piece lineup including: drummer/vocalist EDSTER SNATCHEATER, along with guitarist RAMROD RAPEROKK, and new bassist THE BAVARIAN BUTTRAPER are ready to once again assault America's frail sensitivities, grab their listeners by the hair, stick gag balls in their mouths and sodomize them into submission.
We just finished a tour with THE MENTORS in August 2002.
