Artist History The Scott McCloud Group is an original Funk - Soul Jazz-Jam band. From artists like Medeski Martin & Wood to James Brown to Sly and the Family Stone - these young, educated and talented musicians tightly incorporate a spectrum of styles to create the unique groove of SMG. SMG has performed a minimum of 25 gigs monthly for the past 3 years in the Southeast region. This band is definitely “the hardest working group in Charlotte”, according to Creative Loafing Magazine, performing over 250 times in the past twelve months SMG’s most recent successes include : Performing in the new Farrelly Brothers movie—”SHALLOW HAL.” You can see the guys playing at Rosemary’s (Gwyneth Paltrow) reception (seen at the end of the movie). Performing for the United States Tennis Association-ESPN Davis Cup and Fed Cup Tournaments. Opening for such artists as Charlie Hunter & Regina Belle. Showcase performance for the New York International Independent Film Festival at Madison Square Garden. The band won Best Movie Soundtrack for “a Bettor’s Life.” SMG’s studio CD, “Just Happens” is professional and marketable.
