Artist description
Humans have an inexplicable need for chronicling their own progression. A museum is a shrine to this need, a living archive of our inherent narcissism. Humans depict and interpret their achievements through art, sport, education and technology, and the museum is the gathering place where the masses come to see the proof of the progression, where the very heart of our history bleeds into the cultivated soil.
Museum of Science, originally an ethnic cuisine activist group, was borne when its three members (the suave LeBaron, the stalwart MC Food Court, and the dashing Doug Deep) could no longer find decent Thai food in the greater area of their home on the eastern seaboard of New Hampshire. After years of holding benefit shows for immigrants hoping to open exotic cuisine eateries in the greater tri-city area, the protein-privileged protagonists found themselves strengthened by recent openings of top-notch Thai, Tex-Mex, and Italian restaurants, as well as a swanky Asian market. Having all but vanquished the fried-batter goodness of the evil "Papa" Jack Jay and his henchmen/banjo pickin' sons Cody and Howie Jay, Museum of Science once again discovered their ability to manipulate various media into a hearty bombast of social protest. Mixed, of course, with stuff like dance grooves and chicken noises.
So they decided to make an album. Unfettered by concerns of accuracy, poignancy or depth, MOS was able to turn their festival of civil disobedience towards the worthy causes of forming unions for household appliances and the preservation of an endangered 1974 Plymouth Barracuda. The result is this year's (whatever we're calling the album), to be released (whenever we're releasing a cd). Though planning a small tour of lower Mongolia, the valiant vagabonds of MOS will then take a break to pursue individual careers. |
