Artist History
In loose terms, Kaddish are something of a screamy hardcore band from Dundee, Scotland. Forming as the result of the demise of a previous band, Kaddish enlisted John in the hope of fashioning something positive which would help alleviate the boredom of living in Dundee. Having gained support, Kaddish are acceeding this original mandate, and hope to move on with their first release, a six song CD, which was recorded at a home studio by members of fellow Dundee bands Jesus Elephant God and Lateo. Musically, Kaddish's most obvious influences look towards screamy bands such as Jerome's Dream, Angel Hair, Hassan I Sabbah, Orchid, The Now, Swallowing Shit etc. Allied to this however, Kaddish's sound takes-in elements of everything from black metal through to bands such as Slint and the Shipping News. Indeed, this is reflected in the wide variety of bands that Kaddish have shared bills with: from the all-out Glasgow-core of Madman is Absolute, Co-exist and Churn to the straight-up hardcore of bands like Ensign, to the weirdness of the Oxes and I'm Being Good. |

Press Reviews
Demo 2002 by Paul Schwarz in Terrorizer#102
"Comparisons to Converge, Deadguy, or Drowningman, may tell part of the whole story, but the organic air of this demo is reminiscent Association Area - though Kaddish's chosen production has far more in-your-face power and bite. It only adds to the prevailing feeling surrounding the band, that they're every bit as worthy of close observation as any their 'elders'. This is only the beginning..."[9.5/10] |
