Artist History
Group Du Jour was founded in 1983 by Daniel Crommie and Bo & Paul Parker after Daniel's previous band "Continuum", a traditional & original folk conglomerate folded. Bo & Paul Parker had been playing the Portland, Oregon music circuit for a few years performing their electrified versions of jazzy folk-tinged covers interspersed with original tunes. After a few fairly tentative attempts to find common ground, Group Du Jour finally found its' ensemble sound with the 1986 release "Forgotten Colors", a ground-breaking collection of Pop songs infused with synthesizers and world-beat rhythms. Three more albums followed suit: "Wonderful Vision", "Waiting for the Sky to Fall" and the instrumental compilation "Hinterland", before delving into the CD marketplace with "Down to the Wire" and their last full-length album "The Mystery Plays". Group Du Jour play occasionally in the Portland area while Daniel Crommie pursues his solo career in addition to his band "Saturnalia Trio Quartet", while Bo & Paul continue performing as a duo and (as of this writing) are recording their first album. |
