Artist description
Elma Tuomisalo (Finnish meaning " wild cherry in the wilderness")
is a native of Michigan and has been singing all of her life. She is has a wide range of
2 1/2 octaves and an amazing richness of tone in her voice. She works as a naturalist (and a mother) and has been influenced by the "music of the loons".
She was discovered by Acie Cargill and has recently sung on his TradFolk release "In The Willow Garden". Acie is known for traditional Kentucky ballads and Elma has enthusiastically responded with her expressive voice. She also sings with an Indiana folk group called Bearberry Swale and plays the lap dulcimer and guitar. She is a serious talent to be watched. She is soon to appear on a TradFolk project "Midwest Ballad Singers" and is planning her own cd for release soon. Elma is also a member of the Bahai faith. |
