Artist History
HISTORY
For a long time Mike C. and Derek D. tossed around
the idea of putting their singing and bass playing
talents (respectively) together to give the kids
something new to mosh to. In the fall of 1999 it
all came together when two mutual friends, Luke G.
and Newman, offered to fill the spots of drummer
and guitarist. For completists sake, a second
guitarist, Ruben, joined for a brief time.
After a couple months of practicing, Can I Say,
was ready for its first show on New Year's Eve.
Unfortunately the band never played. Luke quit a
week before.
After taking a few months off Newman's brother,
Shrew, asked to play bass. Newman took over on
drums moving Derek to guitar. Can I Say was ready
to rock and roll, but once again a small internal
conflict results in a member quiting a few weeks
before a show. Mike C., founding member, is out.
Newman and Shrew approached a friend about
possibly singing for their band. Without
hesitation Gus jumped on board. It just wasn't
in the cards. Gus, after much thought and
sleepless nights, decided to move. Putting too
much distance between him and practice, he decided
to quit. Derek took over as vocalist. A long time
friend by the name of Rob took over on guitar. They
managed to get it together in time for the show.
Even with being liked by just about everybody,
they felt they were missing something. The
decision was made to bring in another old friend
for second guitar. Besides adding to the sound and
giving Rob the freedom to solo like a madman, Tom
brought his skills at writing.
then adam joined the band because
robby sucks now and quit.
