Phil Dirt Reverb central The Bustin' Burritos Live At Ugglan, Grade 3 of 5 Label: Bustin' Burritos CD The Bustin' Burritos are an instro rock band from Kalmar, Sweden. Their music is a blend of surf and sci-fi cheese, with a healthy does of inventive arranging. The operative word is tweaky. This CD-R was captured live on a porta studio at Ugglan studios with a few friends in attendance. The mix is rough, and some tracks labor under indistinct sound, but the band is splendid. By the time they get into a good studio setting and carefully document what they are doing, they should create quite a stir. Picks: Pablo Potemkin, Red Velvet Animals, Agent Mo Is Watching From A Spitfire, Rubber Along The Road, The Ghost Of Fireball Roberts "Pablo Potemkin" grade 3/5 One drunk claps mercilessly, the synth launches a prog rock progression, and then the guitar comes in with rock tones and a slithery melody line in a thick was of original sounds. Some double picking and some original arranging too. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "Red Velvet Animals" grade 3/5 Crunchy lumbering guitar edge, intense whammified thickness, dark imagery, and disturbed robot keys. "Red Velvet Animals" sneaks into your covert mind, where it's safe from prying ears. Strangely intriguing. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "Agent Mo Is Watching From A Spitfire" grade 4/5 That Agent Mo sure must be an odd man out kinda fella. Tweaky, bongo pumped, angular, off balance, and kinda grodie. "Agent Mo Is Watching From A Spitfire" is a brilliant piece of original construction, with some sort of magnetic attraction. Cartoon gloomy. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "The Elimination Of Eugene" grade 3/5 Poor old Eugene is on the outs - permanently. "The Elimination Of Eugene" uses spy sounds and bongos, post robot tweakiness, and an almost Casio cheesiness. Nice track. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "An Evel Kneivel Event" grade 3/5 More circular than I envision Evel Kneivel to be, this nevertheless employs some shimmering guitar, some edgy chords, and a dark circular chord progression for a disturbed ride on a phantom bike. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "Rubber Along The Road" grade 4/5 Programmed percussion, big guitar vibrato throb chords, and a lumbering surfable melody. This is surf oriented, though you certainly would be excused for missing the link. Very original and very cool. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "The Incredible El Indio" grade 3/5 Violinski circusoid jangle for the computer age. It's kind of a tango, sort of a hoedown, and maybe a bit of a surf romp as well. A nightmare in the white water, with a flood of disturbing images. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "The Ghost Of Fireball Roberts" grade 4/5 A long string of sci-fi sonic chops from the keys precedes the lead guitar taking over. The most surfable track here, with strong guitar and a solid surf melody. Catchy and fun, and maybe a little over the top. The fingers fly on the guitar. Totally cool! Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo Phil Dirt Reverb central The Bustin' Burritos May I Borrow Your Secret Agent? grade 3/5 Label: Bustin' Burritos CD-R Demo Ten tracks of entirely unusual music from Sweden's Bustin' Burritos. Instrumental, tweaky, and sometimes disturbing, and not surf, yet worth investigating. Picks: Trembling Tortillas, Rubber Along The Road, Pablo Potemkin, Haunted By Henry Reverb, An Evel Knievel Event, May I Borrow Your Secret Agent? "Trembling Tortillas" grade 3/5 Hand claps set off this edgy cowboy fantasy. "Trembling Tortillas" is a solid riff based hard driving rock instro. Rock Instrumental Stereo "Rubber Along The Road" grade 4/5 Programmed percussion, big guitar vibrato throb chords, and a lumbering surfable melody. This is surf oriented, though you certainly would be excused for missing the link. Very original and very cool. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "Insane Cobra Split The Wood" grade 3/5 A slow keyboard pumps out an accompaniment to the rising drama of the progression. More eerie and spooky than melodic. Rock Instrumental Stereo "Pablo Potemkin" grade 3/5 One drunk claps mercilessly, the synth launches a prog rock progression, and then the guitar comes in with rock tones and a slithery melody line in a thick was of original sounds. Some double picking and some original arranging too. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "Russian Moustache" grade 2/5 "Russian Moustache" grinds and churns in a kind of inverted frat setting. Edgy and disturbed, with grindy nonmelodic guitar and cheesy organ. Rock Instrumental Stereo "The Sparetime Autopsist" grade 3/5 Keys warn of bandits just down the road. Kinda like a carnival of soulless guitars. Vibrato distortion, strange days on the midway, and drama. Most unusual. Rock Instrumental Stereo "The Incredible El Indio" grade 3/5 Violinski circusoid jangle for the computer age. It's kind of a tango, sort of a hoedown, and maybe a bit of a surf romp as well. A nightmare in the white water, with a flood of disturbing images. Post Surf Cartoon Future Gloom Instrumental Stereo "Haunted By Henry Reverb" grade 3/5 Great title! Semi dramatic, colorful, and melodic. More jangle and distortion than reverb, and on the eerie side, yet inviting. The disturbed guitar-organ duet is both endearing and bothersome. Rock Instrumental Stereo "An Evel Knievel Event" grade 3/5 Whammy, extended chords, programmed percussion, and some intense twang. catchy in a postmodern world. Rock Instrumental Stereo "May I Borrow Your Secret Agent?" grade 3/5 Tweaky sequenced keys, vibrato twang, and urgent messages for the home office. Quite weird, yet interesting. Rock Instrumental Stereo Snelugg.nu The Bustin' Burritos - May I Borrow Your Secret Agent? Betyg 6/10 Från Kalmar kommer det instrumentala rockbandet The Bustin' Burritos. "May I Borrow Your Secret Agent?" /Erik Östholm snelugg.nu Oneday Demos The Bustin' Burritos - May I borrow your secret agent?
