    Artist History
The History of Cheshire Grin Cheshire Grin, a hard-edged modern rock band from Omaha, Nebraska, was the brainchild of guitarist Pat Bressman and bassist/vocalist Troy Tompkins. Formed in 1995, Pat and Troy were looking to show a few people that a band could rock hard, sometimes Real hard without losing that killer hook that made them love music in the first place. Omaha back then was a tough market dominated by Top 40 cover acts and a lack of original music venues. The band at that time (with Jason Mathews on guitar and a couple of different drummers) decided that the best way to break into the market was by playing NEW rock covers and mix in their own originals. The road was a tough one at first, and the line up changed a few times, but the band's line-up was solidified in 1997 when they hooked up with powerhouse drummer Mark Rothermund the “Hammer” and Guitar/Keyboard Player Mark Marquez. In late 1997 Cheshire Grin entered the Motley Crue “Kick start Your Career” contest through local radio station Z-92. The plan was for four bands to battle it out on Halloween night in true rock and roll fashion-a battle of the bands! Only this was -The Battle of the Cover Bands (I did mention that this was a Radio station event, didn’t I?) It did not matter. Cheshire Grin stole the show and opened for Motley Crue in February ’98. The band parlayed that chance into becoming THE top drawing club band in Omaha and has no plans on giving up that title anytime soon! The band has since shared stages big and small with some of the top names in rock including Drowning Pool, Coal Chamber, Ill Nino, Bloodhound Gang, Dust for Life, Sponge, Godhead, Oleander, Monster Magnet, Beautiful Creatures, Mesh, Buck Cherry, Salvia, Econoline Crush, Tantric, Staind and a whole lot more! In July 2001 Cheshire Grin released “Cat O’ Nine Tales”, a nine song CD that received rave reviews for both it’s music and production. Recorded at WareHouse studios with Hot Omaha Producer Jim Homan, Cat O’ Nine Tales would eventually become one of the top sellers in the Omaha market for the year. Three songs off the CD received local airplay with the song “Release” receiving a ton of airplay on 93.3 KRRK. They also received airplay on Z-92’s “Homegrown” show, and the 100,000 watt blowtorch 89.7 The River, one of the largest college stations in the nation! Cheshire Grin used cyberspace to get their music to the public also when “big 12 radio” went online in Late 2001. Free downloads of their music have been also available on “S.L.A.M. OMAHA” and are always a top download. 2002 just may be the year that Cheshire Grin breaks out nationally. In April 2002 Cheshire opened up the Jagermeister Music Tour in Denver with Drowning Pool, Coal Chamber, 40 Below Summer and Ill Nino. The band was also 1 of 10 national unsigned bands to be part of Cruefest 2002, a salute to the music of Motley Crue. The show will be held at the infamous Whisky a Go-Go in Los Angeles California in June 2002. New music is being also being written for the follow-up to Cat O’ Nine Tales, which will be released later in 2002. Cheshire Grin is sponsored by Jagermeister, the best liquor in the world! Jagermeister has been a huge friend of the band and has done everything an unsigned band could ever ask for. They have put the band in front of two huge crowds opening for The Bloodhound Gang in 2001 and for Drowning Pool in April 2002. Also in 2002 Cheshire Grin was added to a Jager produced Compilation Disk that is given out at “Jager Parties” nationally. They have also given the band a huge supply of CD’s, posters, t-shirts, hats and prize packs to give away at shows as well! Other sponsors include Mac Rae Productions who supply the band with a massive sound system and a lightshow that is unmatched in the area, and Midwest Sound and Lighting. They fix all the stuff we break and put Pro gear in our hands, or ears! Visit Cheshire Grin on the web at www.cheshiregrinband.com today! Cheshire Grin is Managed by John Bressman 402-397-0863

From sugarbuzzmag.com cruefest 2002 "Cheshire Grin began their set at 6:15 as the 4th band to hit the Whisky A Go Go stage. Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Cheshire Grin proved to that the Midwest rocks just as hard as the east or west coasts. In fact Cheshire Grin rocks Cruefest Cheshire Grin was one of the better unsigned acts that I have had the opportunity to see. They have that modern rock, radio friendly feel; yet don’t sound like every band you hear when you tune in your local rock station. The song “Release” was my favorite of the night, but the entire set proved to be nothing less than fantastic. Check out www.cheshiregrinband.com to purchase the debut release “Cat O Nine Tales”
