Artist description Arbee which is an alias or pen name for singer/songwriter Ryan Bentley, also stands for his initials (R.B). Although Ryan performs solo acoustic shows currently, he wants to take his music more in the direction of a full band sound like those of Radiohead, Howie Day, and John Mayer. And even with the recent rebirth of the singer/songwriter lately, Ryan knows well that the “band” identity is more of a marketable idea, and doesn’t want to be placed in the acoustic folk style that singer/songwriters are often placed in. Ryan has been classically trained in music since the 5th grade and can play a large variety of instruments including: clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and other horns, piano, guitar, bass and a few others. Although he grew up on a steady diet of the Beatles, Ryan was never really interested in pop music until the early nineties where bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots started hitting the scene with a music that helped bring out more emotion, and inner feelings than that of its predecessors of the eighties. Ryan hopes to blend his musical influences which to name only a few include: Beatles, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Wagner, Beethoven, Five for Fighting, Chris Cornell and others, and along with his musical studies in theory and composition believes he can come up with songs that are not only attractive to a large audience, but can hold some musical substance. After taking a 3 year hiatus from writing and performing, Ryan and Arbee is ready to take the music scene by storm. During his 3 years away from his own music, Ryan spent that time gaining contacts and working various jobs and projects within the music industry. By working with different record labels, management companies, and promotion companies Ryan has a definite advantage by knowing more about how the music industry works. Now with the recording of a 4 song EP titled; “Everything’s Gray EP”, Ryan is using his vast amount of contacts to get his music out, and has started to gain interest in cities around the country including: Chicago, Boston, Seattle and his hometown of Los Angeles. Ryan is currently an independent artist and is searching for the proper management team to take his music to the next level. Although with his experience in the music industry, Ryan is not in desperate need to find management, and looking to find the right situation in which will benefit both parties. Ryan is currently launching a website (www.arbeemusic.com) which will also have his EP for sale. He is also currently booking shows throughout the state of California as well as putting together a string of late-summer dates back East, and in the Midwest. Life is about having a dream and then following that dream, and that is finally what we are doing.
