Artist description
Eschellon (pronounced esh-a-lon) is an innovative rock group that takes the ambient music of bands like Radiohead, Coldplay, and Sigur Ros, and mixes it with electric art-rock, and a one-of-a-kind songwriting style that captures any listener with its dynamics and epochal climaxes. Soaring lead guitars, Thom Yorke/Jeff Buckley-esque vocals, hauntingly optimistic lyrics, and broken up drumbeats fill in the space between to create a sonic palette of emotion. |

Press Reviews
From the New Haven Advocate: Bluesy emo/prog jammers Eschellon have some new stuff to show off at the Madison Arts Barn on the 28th (opening for Coriolis, The Holden Truelove Band and Bunji), says an obviously Thom Yorke-inspired singer/bassist Ryan Monahan: "Three new songs--"The One," a Weezer-inspired ballad; "Cowboys and Indians," a slow rocker with a Lennon-esque feel, and one song that will definitely be played at the show (which remains nameless at this point), and has an ambient trip-hop feel. We will also play a few covers, which we'll leave a surprise. ..." The band will have copies of the new CD, Numb, recorded at Horizon Studios. Track 4, "Nuclear Love Song" is an ironically bouncy, dance-able take on death and relationships: "You said you'd hold my hand 'til the sky turns red/and we all end up dead ... Tried making peace with you before/ but all I got was nuclear war ..." |
