    Artist description
Amid the designer angst sounds of today’s rock scene, Headrush shed a shaft of light. On stage Headrush exude an energy that is tangible and magnetic, smudging the distinctions between unvarnished soul bearing and tribal savagery.
    Artist History
John Beeson, formerly of Inertia, forged the original concept of Headrush at the tail end of 1998. Joined by Chris Lee on bass & Gary Brown on drums in 1999, their collective passion and charisma energised and legitimised the fight for bigger and better things. 2000 was a busy year for Headrush. The self-financed “She said” three track c.d. was released to critical acclaim. “Making Music” magazine made them the unsigned band of the month, an honour indeed! Gigs continued including perhaps, the wettest main stage appearance at the Rainbow festival that anyone could remember! December 2000 spawned the new Headrush 9-track c.d. This marked a definite musical progression crossing the divide between indie and full on hard rock, driven by the bands’ warhead like accuracy for a great song. Metal Hammer awarded the band 7/10 in their January issue. Short, sharp, bursts of adrenaline secured gigs on the London circuit, including the Verge, The Underworld and Highbury Garage, punctuated by impromptu acoustic sets closer to home. However, John, Chris and Gary knew that they needed another dimension; backing from someone who truly believed and shared in their vision. Engineer/producer Jon Ayres, a man at the centre of the burgeoning local recording scene, had been watching Headrush for a while. The prestigious management deal with Jon Ayres of Ayretime Studios was signed on May 21st 2001. So began real rehearsing, real recording and the space and time to devote to the appliance of musical science. 2002 opens with the band and Jon Ayres (arguably the fourth member) honing their collective skills for the necessary level of attack, but beneath the velocity there is serious virtuosity. No matter what the recording session or gig venue, played acoustic or electric, it always sounds like Headrush.
