    Artist History
A new band with a sound as diverse and unique as the Earth is to Jupiter, 3kelvins has entered Seattle's sonic scene with a blast of sound bigger than NASA's last shuttle launch. Created by former members of Sick Girl, One at Dusk, Time in Trees, and Una Ceja, 3kelvins combines the Middle Eastern trillings of Red Rover, the driving and dynamic riffs of Little Secret, and the haunting sounds of Eulogy while proving that it is still possible to emerge as a unique musical force in the Northwest. 3kelvins began to form in the winter of 2001. When Brian emerged from a self-imposed exile from the public scene armed with songs aplenty, he began looking for another guitar to help create the larger than life sounds that inhabited his head. Scott answered his ad and almost immediately the first stirrings were felt of the voyages that 3kelvins would take their audience on. After working together for a couple of months, the two decided to add some structure to their interlaced guitars and searched out an old friend of Brian's. Brian and Scott, combined with James' rhythmic power on drums, instantly realized the unique chemistry being conveyed through their music. After a long search, Daniel entered the foray to add his intense brand of bass playing. To further distance themselves from the standard version of a rock band, 3kelvins enlisted the help of lead singer and violin player Amanda. With the unique addition of this traditionally classical and still haunting instrument, the five began exploring the edges of dynamic and textural soundscapes. When Amanda was forced to leave and follow opportunities abroad, a key ingredient was lost. But the strength of the chemistry and the musical discoveries still being made by the four remaining members convinced 3kelvins to keep plugging on. In the spring of 2002 fortune smiled down again when Rene, a former member of Sick Girl, spent a couple of evenings with the boys. It wasn't long before all admitted that there was no reason to look any further than her sultry vocals. A whole new exploration into sonic realism began. With Rene's intense allure onstage, Brian and Scott's dueling yet complementary guitars, and the solidly exciting rhythm section that produces more than just beats and bass, 3kelvins is exploring sounds that have been taking audiences to the ends of the known musical universe. Well received in Seattle's party circuit, 3kelvins' first forays into clubs around town have been spectacular affairs of sonic exploration. They have resulted in audiences discovering and embracing the travels of 3kelvins and left the band looking, and finding, new ways to take us all on a voyage into the unknown.
