Artist History
In January, 1997, friends Matt Kiefer and Sean Dawson started playing together regularly for the first time. Having been friends for years, Matt had given Sean beginning guitar lessons four years earlier, but had never played together more than few times since. These later sessions were almost totally acoustic, and to their surprise would yield a good amount of original material that would later become the basis for Fido57's sound and lyrics.
Later that year, after starting to set some of their songs in stone, another of their friends, Dave, started jamming with Matt and Sean once a week or so, evolving their songs into a more complete band sound. The three meshed well. Unfortunately, soon after, Matt left the trio and moved out of town.
Sean and Dave continued jamming on an infrequent basis and soon picked up bassist Matt Schaefer. Matt was a Fraternity brother of Dave's at the University of Missouri - Rolla. Matt and Dave played together in various "battle of the bands" and frequently at Beta Sigma Psi in Rolla. The new trio would continue to play together occasionally for the next three years.
In April, 2001, the three informal band members began tiring of playing in the basement and made the move to acquire lead guitarist Brandon Rohrbach. They were soon playing shows and Fido57 was born.
