Artist description
The Electric Shoes make me grin with thoughts of summer crushes, requited longing and guitars that echo the bloodrush of a first kiss. Of course, with all that bliss must come the enevitable crash which only makes the experience more intence, more meaningful. This Toronto trio's sweet lyrics juxtaposed with noisy, feeding-back guitars and crashing drums makes for perfect summer music for those still unjaundiced by heartbreak.

Artist History
Highschool, Steve is in various bad metal/punk bands, one is named the Electric Shoes.
Steve, like the little homo that he is, thinks he is dark and somber, and starts an industrial band called Autovoice and a band called the Failures, which sounds remarkably like the Cure.
After many band line-up changes, the Failures break up, three go on to form Cuff the Duke (an incredable band), and Steve (no longer handicapped by delusions of gothdom) looks for a new band. But what?
Skip ahead to Toronto, a boring live music scene where everyone thinks they are going to be the next Iggy Pop. Really, there was so many so called garage punk bands, it was aweful. It is the end of fall 2001, Steve and long time friend Kevin, hook up with Phoebe after looking long and hard for a drummer (and all the drummers were wankers), but with Phoebe, it clicked.
After a number of killer shows, a good recording, and only one show that went majorly wrong, they form the Suck My Disc Collective with Another Blue Door, Anagram, the Mark Inside and the Postage Stamps.
Welcome to the only scene in Ontario that will matter. |
