Artist description
OmegaJazz is a jazz quartet with a single-minded focus on free-flowing spontaneous creativity. While they perform selections from the jazz standard and popular contemporary repertoire in addition to their improvisational "conversations", these sometimes familiar, sometimes alien, but always intriguing works are their hallmark. Filled with tonal variations and colors, they delight with the intensity and surprise with the intricate textures that can appear preplanned while never predictable. They entertain with recognizable songs from the standards but provide a glimpse into their ability to make it happen in real-time with several of their own pieces, not previously performed anywhere live. They bring to mind multi-media happenings of days gone by.
They present a serious challenge to the listener in that their works are borne on the wings of inspiration. Hang on fast and fly with them to uncharted territory!

RON ANDERSON: Drums-Percussion and Vocal-Percussion
Ron brings a 30-year package of experiences. Ron’s mentors include Billy Cobham, Steve Gadd, Lenny White, and Tony Williams, to name a choice few. Like these music legends, there have been many occasions where Ron would “sit-in” with a band, and it would sound as if they’ve been rehearsing for years. Jazz/Rock-Fusion is Ron’s first love, but good music comes in many forms, and he doesn’t shy away from any of them.
SCOT WULBERT: Composer/Piano/Keyboards
Scot has done studio work & performed his progressive jazz/funk stylings for several years including performances at local venues such as The Playground, Harper College, and the Kool Jazz Festival. Scot majored in music at Bradley University and is descended from a long line of musicians including his mother, Beatrice Wulbert, who was a violinist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
ROBERT DODSON: Bass/Guitar/Songwriter
Robert has had music in his life from a very early age... Beginning with instruments made with rubber-bands and wire and his dad's discarded cigar boxes, Robert made efforts to create musical sounds with whatever came his way. These early experiments led the way to more traditional instruments, with an older brother's classical guitar providing his first taste of a "real" instrument. As he grew through adolescence into early adulthood, Robert played guitar in several local bands in the Chicago area, including a stint with the traveling band backing soul legend Otis Clay. The experiments evolved into electronic music involving oscillators and synthesizers built with government surplus frequency generators and other components. As time progressed, his perspectives continued to expand, encompassing a keen interest in all genres and forms of music from classical to country, bluegrass to bebop and everything in between. The diversification continued to include recording and live performance engineering (he operates his own digital project studio) and, significantly, additional traditional instruments as well. A natural extension of his guitar playing was the addition of bass guitar. As a bassist, Robert, along with Ron, also in the Summer of 2000, toured Australia with SINE…The Band and The Metropolis Youth Symphony for the Olympic Torch Relay. He cites as influences many of his favorite artists including Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea, Marcus Miller, Ron Carter, Carlos Santana and Jaco Pastorius to name a few.
