Artist History
Born May,1954
Father was a harmonica player who played
along with the famous Harmonicats on radio talks
shows in the 1940's. He taught me how to play the
harp at the age of 6 . My first song was Home On
The Range in key of C# played on a 8 hole
chromatic harmonica. My first performance was done
on stage with my my grandfather who was the band
director of a South Texas German Oom-Pah Band.
I have a brother, an accomplished professional
guitar player living and performing in Scotland.
When I attended college in Waco, I played
harmonica and banjo for tips, food and drinks
at a pizza pub that showed old silent movies.
It was a good experience to make noises to
fit the scenes on the movies. In that
same time period an owner of a bar
asked me to help musicians play open mic every
Wensday night as backup instrumentalist playing
my harmonicas. Later on I found out I'd played with
many famous musicians.
Moved to Austin in 1975 and played in a few
Blues bands.Tried the starving musician life
and dropped out. Moved to the Texas Gulf Coast
and started my Day Job! Played a few walk ons
until 1996 and started playing open mic. Formed
the BackYard Blues band and set up a recording studio. |
