Music Style Mellow Metal

Artist History Confrontation is a 4 piece metal band that was created in August of 2000. The original name of the group was Perpetual Oscillation and consisted of only Darin Griffin and Derek Henson. The first projects were covers that we formatted in Realaudio and placed on certain internet sites that have since went down for reasons unknown to us. After about a year of trial and error, we felt we were ready to move to the next step - a real band. Compiling a rough demo cd, we searched for a suitable drummer the summer of 2001. We have had two different drummers (three if you count a drum machine) and a bassist since then that have been playing with us and left the band. In February, we recruited our bassist, and recently found our current drummer. Confrontation is nearly ready for our first gig now. ------------------------------------------- The band consists of these current members: Darin Griffin - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitarist Derek Henson - Lead Guitarist Cody Shanks - Bassist Taylor Secrest - Drummer ------------------------------------------- Confrontation came from a novel by Robert Shea & Robert Wilson titled "THE ILLUMINATUS! TRILOGY" published in 1975. The novel made popular many current conspiracy theories surrounding the Trilaterral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, and of course, the Bavarian Illuminati of Germany during the time of the American Revolution. Many of the themes referenced in the book are directly or indirecty incorporated into our music and lyrics. ------------------------------------------- Our music has evolved quite a bit since its Perpetual Oscillation days. Early recordings tended to take a pretensious route to grandiose classical rock, such as Genesis meets Black Sabbath. Demo songs have been all over the rock spectrum; from acoustic ballads, riff rock, prog rock, shred metal (more of an attempt really), spacey instrumentals, industrial, and east Indian fusion. No one label can really be placed on any band though (at least any good band), so please listen for yourself.
