Artist History We've been The Loomers since early 1996. Before that we were known as Jon Svetkey and The Big Loud Band. That's because Jon was a solo acoustic act and when he put a band behind him it made sense to use his name out front. As the sound gradually evolved from "folkie with rock band behind him" to "acoustic guitar-driven rock band" a new name was needed. Hence, The Loomers.
