Artist History
The band entered the Warrnambool Heat of "Battle Of The Bands" in April 2000 as their debut appearance in Warrnambool. They placed them 2nd in this competition.
This gave the band an excellent starting boost to their career and for the rest of 2000, secured support gigs with numerous Australian bands like, 28 Days, Superhiest, (where 1500+ people were in attendance) Dogbouy, Testeagles along with many other local and metropolitan shows.
Midway through 2000, the band produced its first E.P, which was received very well by local and Internet supporters. The CD consisted of 3 home studio tracks and one live track, all of which were recorded, produced and mastered by the band in their own home for $25. These were sold for $5 each and overall approximately 200+ were sold and still selling.
Following the success of the 3 track E.P, the band entered Motherlode Studio's
in Warrnambool, this time with a bigger budget and the help of local engineer Tony Peel.
This resulted in the "P.M.U." 6 track e.p. which was launched June 2001 with 2 other
local Warrnambool bands. The launch attracted around 300+ people and a good number of people who did not already have a copy of the “new” cd bought one for $10.
2001 gave Negative Hold more great opportunities to showcase their talent
with support shows with Area 7, Sunk Loto, Gameover and Fez Perez with great comments from all bands (Stevo from Area 7 dedicated a song to Negative Hold and then said he thought that “they are ace!!!”) but their most pleasing effort so far is their first place in the Push Start Freeza battle of the bands in April 2001.
From here Negative Hold went on to play ay the Queenscliff Music Festival on the 25th of November competing against other bands from surrounding towns for the chance to play at the Push On festival at Luna Park. This festival featured famous Australian Musicians such as Billy Thorpe and David Helfgott. Pollyanna also headlined the competition. Unfortunateley Negative Hold came up short by the smallest amount.
Negative Hold has also been featured on MP3.com.au and has been in the top 10 metal downloads/streams for the past 6 months with bands like The Wolves, Voice of Dissent and down.to.size, rating back and forth between 7th and 1st. They are also featured on other music websites such as Metalshop.com (a band manufactured page) Uranium music, Wicked Land, Oz Music project and Ozrock.com
They also appeared at the Ballarat SMB campus Ratnet Internet broadcast July 2001. Videos of this gig available by clicking here.
On the 12th of January 2002, Negative Hold also came first place in the Warrnambool Kulcha Shift Shuv It Skate competition's Battle of the Bands. This was there 2nd first placing in there career to date.
Negative Hold is currently writing new material for a third e.p.
which will be recorded once again by Tony Peel at Motherlode studios,
Warrnambool, in September of 2002.

Press Reviews
Review from www.ozmusicproject.net by Jazz
"OK, admittedly Metal isn't really my choice musical meal, but the aptly titled '3 Track EP' from Warrnambool 4 piece Negative Hold certainly provides a extra level of classiness from your typical metal combo. With the start of the first track 'Downfall', a fat guitar driven riff provides a pounding backing to the hardcore-esque vocals of Adam Miles. 'Backfire' goes for more of a faster pace, interlaced with a rich bassline and equally as brutal vocal delivery as the first track. Not a bad effort at all, the production values on the EP are quite good and Negative Hold show that they can certainly hold their own with their own brand of 'new metal'."
