Artist History
The legend tells us that around 1979, after intense activity as artist on the road, from around New York, Laraaji found in the case of his electrified zither, a Brian Eno's visiting card who wished to meet him.
After that meeting Eno produced "Day of radiance" the third chapter of his precious "Ambient #" series and the first of Laraaji's several successful cds.
Laraaji's main instrument is the zither, an instrument similar to the ancient cithara with free strings on a wooden sound box . From a purely acoustic instrument he made it into an electric one in order to expand the reverberations and the pure notes he was able to extract.
He played and registered with Bill Nelson, Brian Eno, Bill Laswell, Roger Eno, Harold Budd, Nana Vasconcelos, Vernon Reid, Haroumi Hosono, Kate St John, Audio Active and many others.

Press Reviews
"Listen to "My Orangeness" only a time and you won't have no more any doubt: blinding and opposite visions will dazzle you without violence to take you to a far and not identifiable place. And, maybe, that's the secret: don't have any limit...A travel, light but assiduous. A travel comparable to a tour of the world, which touches the Orient and passes trough the America, but a "mental" travel too..." Marco Delsoldato (www.suburbiamagazine.net)
"...Laraaji comes back with a solo scented of incense and other aromatic spices. A very enjoyable and relaxed, but sometimes very deep work...playful often as when he uses the voice..."
Gino Dal Soler (Blow Up magazine)
"A record without beginning and end, just a circular, spherical, sidereal record...open door of perception...spiritual...tender, ingenuous, precise. Very beautiful."
Alessandro Pierotti (Mediamente Rai.it)
