Artist description
Kierstin Gray is a storyteller who like the rhythm and blues, rock, and folk artists who have influenced her music is able to weave yarns between the bars of her songs that run the range of emotions -- from the vulnerability that a true and open love brings to making it through one of life's rougher moments.
Kierstin has years of musical experience; she has classical training on the violin and on the piano and is self-taught on acoustical guitar and voice. But her interest in music as a professional artist only took root several years ago as a student at Bryn Mawr College (where she was graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film and Cultural Studies.) While in college, she was "pitch" or director of Bryn Mawr's acclaimed a cappella choir and songsmistress for her class for all four years. It was from those experiences that she branched out to open mike nights at local clubs and gathered a following along Philadelphia's "Main Line."
Kierstin, 23, lives near Princeton, N.J., which puts her geographically dead center between the two musical "home bases" -- Philadelphia and New York City -- where she has built up her most loyal fans to date. In between her local engagements, she has taken to the road for performances in the South and in the Midwest. In December, she spent two weeks on tour as a featured soloist with the Tim Janis ensemble as part of a United States tour by the Sinikithemba choir of South Africa to raise awareness of AIDS in Africa. The tour opened in New York City at historic Riverside Church on Worlds AIDS Day.
Kierstin is now taking her music to a wider audience with live performances outside the East Coast and with the release in the summer of 2003 of her debut album -- "Just One of My Moods" -- which features 12 original cuts written by Kierstin.

Artist History
Kierstin started performing publicly in the fall of 2000, at a local open mic in Bryn Mawr, PA. After performing for about four weeks, she won some free demo time to put together a demo. From that opportunity, she became friends with the studio owner, Alfred Goodrich, and he worked with her on recording more of her music. Now, she plays in the Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York area primarily, touring other states as well. She has sold over 1000 cds to date! Check out her website for the latest releases! |
