    Artist description
Vicki Lei is a musical collage. Raised in the Deep South, she teethed on country western music. Her mother, being deeply spiritual, raised her in church and it is there that most of her hands-on musical training took place. She was also raised in small towns and, as the only pianist, developed diversity through the demands of different projects brought to her by a very young age. Vicki s father s family was self-taught musically, playing totally by ear. Her mother s side of the family was classically trained. As a result, Vicki Lei fluently reads music and plays by ear as well. Two things broadened Vicki musically: She became familiar with Henry Mancini by age eleven and fell in love with his classic style. She also moved with her family to Cleveland, Ohio for a year and observed culture in music. Both these influences broadened her musically, and she is still a great admirer of Mancini s legacy in music. Vicki s musical diversity echoes her vast experiences, with each style having a classic feel to it. She truly aspires to cross over into as many venues as her creativity leads her, all with a quality, classic sound that is -and forever will be- her musical signature.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF VICKI LEI: As 1986 Female Vocalist of the Year for the Florida Country Music Association, Vicki Lei represents a new breed of musical artist. Blending pop, rock, and Big Band favorites with traditional and original country and western ballads, Vicki's repertoire skillfully crosses over listening audiences on the strength of her musical talent. Although small in stature at 4" 11", Vicki projects dynamic vocal abilities and a spirited piano accompaniment. Her charismatic stage presence intrigues and holds her audiences, whether in large convention halls or intimate resort settings. Her talent knows no bounds. A double winner in the 1986 State of Florida Country Music Association competitions. Vicki captured both the coveted "Female Vocalist of the Year" award and best Vocal Duo award. The competition spotlight was especially bright for Vicki as she triumphed with two original compositions for her award-winning performance. "Do You Love Me?," an up tempo country tune; and "Once In A Lifetime," a slow, love ballad. In December 1986, Vicki was selected as the Florida Country Music Association representative on Nashville Network's "You Can Be A Star" program. Her performance earned her the weekly runner-up status. These talent distinctions are the latest accolades boosting the vivacious entertainer closer to her goal of securing a recording contract. Vicki has been composing and arranging original compositions since she began her professional career at age 15 as the opening act for Country and Western performer Barbara Fairchild. The daughter of a minister, Vicki recalls her family making several moves during her childhood. "Living in small towns has more or less influenced the country flavor in my musical roots, she says. "I learned that if you sign out from the heart, you'll be happy with what you hear." Priding herself on riveting performances, Vicki Lei is musical proof that "performer" and "piano" can together play one soulful melody. WHERE DID VICKI LEI GO?
