The Shawn Salmon Trio is a Jazz-Funk Jam Band from Chicago, IL.
Formed by guitarist/composer/leader Shawn Salmon, the trio performes
regularly in Chicago. Influenced by funk and acid jazz bands, Shawn has created
a trio that can play hard driving grooves in any genre of music. With influences ranging from
staight ahead jazz to latin and jazz fusion as well as rock, funk, hip-hop, R&B, and drum and bass, the
Shawn Salmon Trio's music has no limitations. The Trio performs many Shawn Salmon
originals as well as improvised jams created on the spot and in the moment. |

Artist History
Guitarist/ composer/ arranger, Shawn Salmon, is a 2000 graduate of Eastern Illinois University’s Jazz Studies Program. While at Eastern Shawn studied with John McLean and performed with the award winning Eastern Illinois Jazz Ensemble. Currently Shawn has just completed his Masters Degree in Jazz Composition at DePaul University.
He has studied guitar with Bob Palmieri and composition and arranging with Tom Matta. Over the years Shawn has performed with such artists as Ed Shaughnessy, Hal Galper, Chris Potter, Bob Brookmeyer, and Jim Snidero.
