Artist History The sound? Some call it Pop-Funk or Rock-Soul while others just insist that it’s good music for life. Largely populated by fabricated pop singers & Americana styled bands there is need for true songwriters & musicians that speak directly from the soul. Originally from Portland, OR Sloane hails from a family of musicians. His father, a baritone jazz singer & brother, an accomplished choral singer have instilled the desire to write & perform music. Early on in his career Sloane was a DJ in Minneapolis & Mexico for 5 years before writing & recording his 1st note. After that he had performed & played with the Minneapolis band Legion of Groove for 2 years before getting signed to a contract by a German Management company. Soon after he was relocated to Berlin where he continued to write & work on his music. Now after 2 years he returns with his debut US release. Sloane’s freshman album Divine Soul (Nu Vibe Music) aims to the music lovers that not only hear it, they feel it. He says: “I love rock music…. But I also love R&B…. and house, rap metal, etc. That is the music that inspires my day. I’m just being honest with the fact that I’m a musical mutt so I can’t even try to squeeze in on the rock boat or stow aboard the rap train. It’s just not me.” Performing nearly every instrument of his freshman CD, Sloane explains: “If you’re writing about a broken heart, I think that every instrument on that song should sing with a broken heart. No person can ever portray the feelings you had while writing it but you.” In addition to a diverse style Sloane is set apart from others by his unique voice range & tonal quality. It’s almost as if he slightly evolves with every note making the music flow more naturally. Over the course of growing as a writer & performer Sloane has written over 120 songs & toured Germany 2 times where he worked with various labels & artists both as a headlining act & in the studio. In 2002 he released 2 singles with German DJ Daniel Garcia under the Clubstar/ BMG label. Over the summer of 2002 Sloane was #1 in R&B music on Germanys MP3.de with 3000 spins & 1800 downloads in under a week. Now back on American soil he says this “I’m so excited to finally get to put a record out here, plus I’m happy to be with my old band & hit the road. For some reason being on the road anywhere in the US still feels like home.” From club anthems to rock mayhem, funky jams to sensual soul he shies away from no topic. With songs like Divine Soul where he tells a friend “You’re always there when anybody needs a friend, just cause its hot you sure don’t care, cause you’re the one who made the trend” to rock ballads like Pono Star where Sloane says “If you want to you can be my porno star. any day of the week we can dance or even freak. Just give me a chance”, this release if filled with emotions relative to the different yet similar lives we lead. 99% and Set Me Free are yet more examples or the roller coaster style of writing that keeps his diverse fan base growing in the US & Europe.
