Artist History
Introducing Shakka, one of the hottest young artists to burst onto the New York hip-hop scene in years. With his new album 'Worth Every Dollar,' Shakka is making a splash which cannot be ignored.
Since 1999, Shakka has been performing, writing and recording his unique brand of hip hop, which combines classic soul inspired hooks, with the essential hip hop rap style. The infectious energy of his stage shows has garnered him celebrity fans, and made him a fixture onstage at such Manhattan hot spots as Cheetah, Nells and Shine, with one performance at Spy Bar as the featured artist for the release party for the Tupac Shakur book, The Rose That Grew from Concrete. Shakka has quickly created quite a buzz around town.
All of this brings us to the completion of Shakka’s debut album, Worth Every Dollar. Tracks like Rider, and Survive showcase Shakka’s Tupac-esque rap style, while more melodic tracks like It Happened, and Hard to Love, prove that Shakka is quite a pop songsmith in his own right.
But whatever the song style, Shakka delves deeply into his own personal experiences to deliver a positive, empowering message. Unlike so much of rap music in the 90’s, Shakka’s music focuses on the power of a positive attitude, and the unique potential of every individual to achieve their dreams. 'My motto is, keep it positive and keep it movin,' says Shakka. 'I hope my music will inspire others to do the same.'
With heavy underground sales of his CD, a new website (www.mp3.com/shakka), and a busy live performance schedule, Shakka is now looking to take his music to the next level. For this promising young artist, it's just the beginning. |
