Artist description
Chris Bush and Fred Hunt grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Pennsylvania. They met in 1989 while Chris was playing in a band called Surgical Steel, which later broke up in 1991. Fred and Chris met again in 1992 at former Surgical Steel drummer Steve Geist's home. A friendly jam session turned into a magical experience, but they lost touch, until Fred landed a job nearby the University Chris was attending.
After tracking Chris down to his apartment, Fred left numerous messages on Chris' car or apartment door with the intent of getting together, from a guy named Chad. Chris' bewilderment turned to surprise when he found out it was actually Fred and they decided to get together and play some music. Chris's kitchen table made the perfect keyboard stand for Fred to let loose his years of piano songs he only played alone. By adding Chris's upbeat blues guitar riffs to Fred's keyboard songs, they created their own music for friends and family or for anyone who would listen. Some of their songs were so well liked that they were encouraged to record them. An opportunity arose in 1999 when Chris was asked to do some work for a local recording studio, The Menagerie, in return for recording time. They hired Gary Wehrkamp, a local producer, songwriter and musician from the band Shadow Gallery to join them and produce their music.
Everything came together in the studio. Gary was a phenominal talent to work with and Jeff Boyer, owner of The Menagerie, was a gracious and accomodating host. Their work was completed at Gary's 9th street studio in 2002 with high expectations.
Chris and Fred are 2 hometown guys with a dream to have their music recognized in a place called the music world. |
