Deep underground, by the shores of legendary Lake Arcadia, traditional ritual jams yield song nuggets, which are shaped and refined using our patented trial and error process to create individual unique soundfiles which are then cast into the wind, and up on to the web.... |

Press Reviews
Tuneful, well-crafted songs, many in an early-'70s post-Beatles melodic mode, but there's nothing retro about eccentric but heartrending gems like "Dad Lost His Mind," or the zany, careering recitative "Junior," both definite keepers. Goofy romps like "My Crowd" and the Creedence-like incantation "I Wanna See You" are also hugely entertaining. Fans of T. Rex and Leon Russell will find a lot to like here. The spartan but crafty production is a model of less-is-more style economy, though the vocalist sometimes sings beyond his range, as on the otherwise exemplary ballad "Watercolors." The Noise Issue #201 May 2000~On the surface, Tiny Huge sounds like a bunch of guys getting together on a Sunday afternoon to fire up the grill, pop open several cold ones and jam until dusk in front of an intimate adoring audience comprised of their drinking buddies, their wives and kids. Musically speaking though, there is a level of sophistication that harkens back to the salad days of Randy Newman, John Hiatt, Dr. John, Harry Nilsson, John Lennon, The Band, Steely Dan, and Dave Edmunds. There is so much to enjoy in this musical tapestry: the rootsy drawl in songs like “Way Back Home”, the dry, cynical wit of tunes like “Thank You Madison Ave.” and “Million Dollars”, the regrets of lost love in songs like “Waiting” and “My Shining Angel”, and the unapologetic introspective musings in songs like “Lana” and “Story of My Life”….Rootsy rock like this is fertile territory for more seasoned musicians like these to reach out to an even broader, more experienced audience whose kids have grown up and moved on and are now flocking to the clubs for music that speaks directly to them….Music like this has that special appeal for me because though it may be cynical, it still remains unjaded. Tiny Huge doesn’t try to impress, but instead seems to say “well, here it is…take it or leave it, but it won’t matter to us because we’ll keep going with or without you.” The band plays from it’s heart without the pretense- just some guys who continue to do their thing for their own enjoyment and for those who choose to enjoy the ride. There is that levels of songwriting refinement that few bands can reach because they are either too green, or break up before really having a chance to bloom into something for the ages. Tiny Huge clearly has those songs whose time has come.(Joel Simches) |
