Artist description
Madhumita blends Indian melodies with jazz and contemporary popular styles and the result is simply brilliant. Her mesmerizing husky voice will take Indian pop music to new heights. Along with her husband Samir, she is trying to bring Bengali music to a world platform. Her music combines elegant Bengali melodies with various western backgrounds including jazz, latin, reggae to come up with something truly exotic. She is also working on her first solo album and looking for a record label that has a good distribution channels both in India and the US |

Artist History
Madhumita started her training at the age of six under the legendary Suchitra Mitra. After thirteen years of extensive training, she received the "Challenge Cup for Excellence" from Rabi-Tirtha Music school. In 1989, she got her Sangeet Prabhakar degree in light classical from Prayag Samiti. She was a regular performer in All India Radio and Calcutta TV. She has performed in all major shows and venues in Calcutta. For the last 10 years, she has been performing all over the US. She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she teaches music through her own school "Saptak" |
