Artist description
a small-time, small-town, self-proclaimed indie band with tight songwriting, sloppy vocals, and an innovative style, often uncategorizable.
with punk rock ethics (DIY or die), a background in musical stylings ranging from King Crimson, to Slint, to the Cardigans and back, they have a unique, lo-fi sound and a penchant for writing intelligent, catchy songs that experiment lyrically, structurally, and dynamically. (their first CD contains only a guitar, a bass, and drums over vocals.) |

Artist History
tepid began in the small town of Colchester, Connecticut as the project of guitarist/vocalist rob ware in 1998 when he began writing songs for the first time. However, it wasn't until Chris Michaud, a friend and neighbour at the time, began to play, too, that tepid started to form into a band. that summer, steve sommers (AKA Steven Las Vegas) picked up a bass and joined in the garage. after several drummers and a leave of absence from steve, the band reformed in late 2000 with josh lecce at the drums. the following summer, chris left the band for college, and tepid was cut down to a trio. by now, dozens of original songs had been written, but the time was not right. in february of 2002, the trio cleared out rob's basement and set up their recording equipment. while moving things around down there, the freezer was unplugged, which stunk to hell the next day, thus the name of the 'studio' - stinky freezer studios. by late april, tepid had recorded a 5-track EP entirely by themselves, "Treefolk Attacks You." The name comes from the mispronunciation of the demo "treefolk ataxia," an equally odd title. |
