    Artist History
Band bio: Four schoolkids had a vision- to form a band and play some decent music till graduation do them part. Growing up in New Delhi, India with no rock ‘n’ roll support system to speak of, they tried to realize it with ‘LynchD Pain’ in March of 2001. The four played through school and even though they sucked ass then, they were the new novelty value. The initial line up was Akshay Chowdhry: Vocals, Sumant Balakrishnan: Guitars, backing vocals, Tushar Vig: Drums and Karan Sud: Bass. They played a couple of mediocre shows through till the end of 2001 until Karan Sud decided to disembark at the end of the year. Graduation came and went and the three remaining members decided that they wanted to try and write a few songs of their own before fucking off to college. With a rock scene as bleak as it was in their country and with only a handful of bands barely garnering domestic attention, the idea of working their way up a broken ladder seemed pointless. They began to concentrate more on their own songs than covers and recorded their first ever demo in the early months of 2002. Although the recording didn’t satisfy them, the song ‘Clone’ which showcased innovative guitar effects and a memorable chorus, received positive feedback from friends and family and suggested that perhaps a future in songwriting wasn’t a distant possibility. The following months saw the induction of the bands new bassist, Dushyant Purohit , 19 . Also hailing from New Delhi, Purohit met up with the band in the summer of 2002. He fit the bill perfectly and the band after some practice, went on and played one of its few and far between gigs at ‘Planet M’, one of the bigger music stores in the city. The show was well documented in the local papers( big deal you might say, here it is!). They then went on to record their second demo CD. The demo however turned out to be more unsatisfactory than the first due to a less than adequate studio with an even more inadequate financial budget. However, the songs recorded- Freak Show, a rap metal (how cliché) groove that played around with electronics, a rerecorded version of ‘Clone’ and the bass driven ‘Drywall’ were decent songs but somehow failed to invigorate the band. They chugged along and were forced to go their own ways since they were now Freshmen. With only a demo in hand, the band members tried to get as many people into Barefaced Liar’s music in their respective colleges- Drummer Tushar Vig, currently ‘studying’ in New Delhi and Sumant (Guitars) and Dushyant (Bass) in Pune, a student town near the city of Bombay and Akshay ‘studying’ Communication at The University Of Southern California. Many responded positively to the tunes, but the band themselves felt that they were capable of better. The four reassembled again in the winter of 2002 to record yet another demo in a record 4 days. This proved to be more at level with what they wanted but not quite. They had some outburst success with the song ‘Nebula’ which was on that demo which was well appreciated and is still featured on some websites . They split ways again to resume college lives. At the current timeline, they have recorded a 4th (and hopefully final) demo which is featured here on their website, check it out.
