Artist description
BroTiger is a rock and roll band that plays rock and roll the way is was meant to be played; loud, exciting, innovative. The MacGregory Hall Sessions showcases the band's unique songwriting and powerful musicality. Classic rock and punk influences merge with ambient experimentation and clever songwriting. BroTiger is both primal and cerebral. Like a caveman who is also a part-time proffesor at Yale University. Or like a really smart mountain lion. Either way, BroTiger rocks out while at the same time making you stroke your chin thoughtfully. |

Artist History
Greg Bautista and Tyler Littwin had met up while playing in the universally reviled punk outfit, 8th Grade Dance. The struggling trio self-destructed in late winter due to some heavy infighting and a drummer with drinking problem. From the ashes of 8th Grade Dance, Tyler began working on a batch of new songs and turned to his longtime roommate and local TV celebrity, Juston Ashley Sawyer Payne (or "Juston" to his friends) to help form a new band. The Las Angeles native brought to the table his many years of piano playing and his distinct style of songwriting. The half finished ideas the two had been working were soon transformed into full fledged songs and a creative musical partnership was born. Juston and Tyler discovered that their different musical styles melded nicely. Tyler played Paul to Juston's John. Juston played Thom to Tyler's Noel.It all worked out nicely.
Nathan "Jay" Thomas, a veteran of the NJ punk scene, was a powerhouse punk/funk drummer whom Tyler had met while taking a digital studio class. The spiky-haired percussionist joined the nucleus of what was at the time, an unnamed band. Nathan combined the manic speed of punk rock drumming with the syncopated soul of the great funk masters, mixing in a secret ingredient his bandmates liked to call "a temper". Nate, Juston, and Tyler practiced several times as a bass-less trio but soon realised that the sonic hole in the band had to be filled.
After a few false starts with other bassists, attempts were made to pull away Greg Bautista from his session work in local musicals. But it was only after some serious yelling that Greg actually decided to join. Yet the Long Islander soon found the rock and roll circuit much more exciting and fun than playing showtunes over and over again like a well trained circus monkey. After only a minimal number of rehersals as a full band, BroTiger (as it had been deemed a good band name) played its first show at Donovans Pub, surprising both the sell-out crowd and themselves with the energy and quality of their original songs. A brief tour of central NY followed before the band settled down at Trueman Studios to record the 5 song MacGregory Hall Sessions. |
