Band Bio:
OK, let's just get this out of the way - Josh didn't pick the name. It was after weeks of trying to find that "perfect" band name that they landed on this - "Josh Goode Band." The reasons? Simple. Chad, Bobby and Josh wanted a name that didn't define, or clutter someone's image of the music before they heard it. And the fact of the matter is, everything else seemed to. The music, as you'll hear, is hard to define. Sure, it's got pop, moments of rock, a dash of funk, reggae, ska, and latin, but this is...well, different.
Even when they were fairly new, this band had already punched a number of holes in the Dallas "system." After having been together for only 3 months (and being fairly unconnected to the scene), Josh, Chad and Bobby had a number of well-exposed Deep Ellum Friday and Saturday night gigs played and booked. In that short time, they accumulated a massive number of hits on their mp3.com site, surpassing many bands that had been around the scene for years. In just those few months, the JGB had locked over 150 people on their mailing list, began to draw substantial amounts of people to their gigs, and had written and rehearsed over an hours' worth of original material.
One may wonder why so much happened so quickly for them - what are the reasons?
"I know this may sound a bit arrogant" Josh says, "but we've just got a killer pedigree." Utilizing the same strategy as Bob Schneider from Austin, Josh wanted to find the best players around to tackle his music. He knew that most players were grounded in one specific genre, in way too deep to shift gears so quickly within a single song. After all, Josh was a classically trained composer from UT Austin writing pop songs with a twist. He really needed the best. And then, he met Chad Cable and Bobby Ysaguirre.
Chad was a young veteran from the party band scene in Ohio, and had already began to make his mark in Dallas as a fiercely accurate bassist in the funk/rock band, Mr. Lucky. Bobby Ysaguirre was a highly talented music student from The University of North Texas, and had spent a number of years touring as the backbone of a hard-hitting electric blues band, the Nosmo Kings. Both Chad and Bobby had the versatility, vision, and drive to succeed that Josh did, and frankly, when the three of them began to play together, it was unanimously described as "magical."
If you like to hear great songs, played extraordinarily well, and music that's different - you will really enjoy this. The band agrees, "we believe that if you have great players playing great songs, regardless of the most recent musical fad, good things will come." |
