Artist History
Formed in the fall of 2000 by Josh Cooper and Phil Loupin, Defile started out practicing in Phil’s room. Looking for a bass player, Lake Warner joined the group. Not getting much accomplished and due to musical differences Lake left the band. Soon after bass player Paul Shrader joined the group. Soon after that the search for a drummer started. Phil put up an ad in backstreet music, the local music shop in their hometown of Cobleskill, NY. A few weeks later they got a call from Art Fodey. Phil, Josh, and Paul went over to Art’s practice room and jammed. By the end of the hour they knew it wasn’t going to work. Art gave them the number of a kid he knew that would be interested in playing-that kid was Zac Moon. Defile called Zac and set up a date to play. The first time Zac came over Defile’s first song “From the Top” was written. Knowing that this was it, Defile transferred to a practice room at Zac’s house. A few months later Paul left the band and Defile became a 3 piece for the remainder of time. Defile then recorded their first CD with Ron Kleinberger and Chris Pangman, members of Surmize, in Ron’s garage. As Defile progressed they decided it was time to add another member. James Orork then joined the band where they are presently writing new songs and preparing for their next CD “Abode in Hades.” |
