Artist History
Salt Creek formed four years ago as an accustical duet with Gabe Choate and Grant Goble. The two songwriters worked mostly in home studio writing songs and doing accustic shows. With both Choate & Goble, their musical background goes all the way back to high school when they purchased their first guitars together. They rejoined in 1999 after venturing off in other bands through the years; their taste in music expanding. Goble, with his unique & fascinating vocals, awesome guitar picking stands strong with his intriguing lyrics. Choate, with 20 yrs of experience has become a phenomenal musician with his rhythm guitar, ripping leads, and his vocals are smooth with a bewildering rough edge. His astounding harmonica playing is a great added touch. In 2000, the duo decided to make the transition from duet to a four/five piece band. Gabe's wife and number one fan of 10 yrs, decided to take on the challenge & position of manager/booking agent for Salt Creek. With 15 years of office management, purchasing agent, photography, & PR, Susan put many hours of behind the scene work with mgt responsibilities. (Hiring engineers, booking gigs, recording/studio sessions, hiring/auditioning musicians, doing photo shoots, PR, & press for the band). The band has experienced many incarnations with outstanding musicians sitting in for guest appearances. In 2002, the guys had some breakthroughs, with some high profile shows opening for Cross Canadian Ragweed, Cooder Graw, Jason Boland and The Stragglers, Texas Jack and others. They also recorded and released their debut single "Nothin" followed by their second single "Rundown Blues" in 2002, which is receiving airplay on several Texas radio stations including KLUR 99.9-Wichita Falls and Real Country 1330 AM Lake Country Radio. One of the two songs receive airplay every "Texas Tuesday" AM show with Lake Country Radio. The band is currently working on the album "Here Goes Nothin" with a release date slated for early 2003. Salt Creek is also staying busy playing a wide variety of shows, from acoustic to full band blowouts. With the addition of Tom Walton, the band has found another strong songwriter and vocalist to join in the large pool of talent. Goble recently decided to make songwriting his priority while Choate & Walton have teamed up performing live. The band had another remarkable and distinquished addition with Karl Cove-drummer. With his multitued of talents, Cove is an outstanding & impressive drummer and soundman. And just a "great guy"! Look for Salt Creek's upcoming shows, Single Releases and Album. |
