Artist History
Well it's a simple enough really. There were the obligatory four blokes and associated instruments, spending numerous hours bashing out tunes in grotty industrial estate rehearsal rooms. They named themselves Reema and ventured out into the underbelly of London. Then they lost the singer (probably forgot to pack him up at the end of the night and some other band walked off with him), so they advertised for a replacement, and a guy from Australia (NEW ZEALAND!!! - Paul) replied. This is where Dan and Leo first met Paul. An acoustic sing-along in Leo's lounge served as the audition and then there were four again. The name was dropped and new songs written, a new sound was developing, maybe partially due to Paul's South African (NEW ZEALAND!!! - Paul) accent. After naming the band Nobody's Hero and recording a 5 track demo CD in Norwich (the rock capital of the world - obviously) the lads starting sending disks to potential venues. Within no time at all they had the first gig impending like a visit to the toilet after a bad curry. On the day of the gig, the drummer, Wayne, cut his hand making a sandwich (ham, dill, mayo and type A positive) so the gig was cancelled. Within a couple of weeks the drummer announced he was off to Australia (NOT NEW ZEALAND - Paul) and was leaving the band.
The hunt began for a new person to make all the noise at rehearsals. After a number of (interesting) auditions, Charlotte was found. And she was a girl! Frequently clad in a Matrix-style leather coat she increased the musical drive of the band, the number of gigs they were able to do and also the male attendance at NH gigs. Unfortunately, somewhat like a Spinal Tap instalment, another drummer fell by the wayside…Charlotte decided that drumming in the band was too much of a commitment in her life at that point (and they say guys are scared of the 'C' word!), and left. After time spent considering the use of a drum machine (about 2.89 seconds), the 3-piece NH resigned themselves to drummer-hunting again.
While on a sojourn in New Zealand, Paul spent time scanning the internet for porn…er…drummers and came across an advert. Soon emailing was in progress and upon Paul's return from the Antipodes, an audition was set for a tall blonde Dane. It only took a few minutes of bashing and the other guys realised they would take him. Of course Thomas wasn't going to settle for the first thing that came along, so he agreed to play a gig for NH but left the decision as to whether he had decided, decidedly undecided (or something like that). Then 2 days before the gig, the Danish dish (yeah now the female attendance has soared) agreed to be one of the Heroes.
Since the beginning of 2002 Nobody's Hero has developed into a tight, unyielding and solid unit (much like a Mars bar, a year after it's use-by date). With a team of people behind the scenes like: Richard the web guru, Chris the soundman, and from Paul's homeland of Canada: (NEW $*%£# ZEALAND!!! - Paul) Rob the band photographer, these guys are ready to save the world!
For quick reference and to clarify the above, here is a mathematical expression of the Nobody's Hero history:
4UK - 1UK + 1NZ - 1UK + 1UK(f) - 1UK(f) + 1DK = (2UK1NZ1DK) = NH
See, simple really.
