Artist description
Going back to basics, The Conversation outfits five Texans from the town of El Paso. Cutting through the current music scene with a fresh sound and a clear musical mission, The Conversation is on the rise in 2003. This quintet of musicians (Jared Putnam - vocals/guitar, Dave Lucey and Darin Johnson - guitars, Lane Pianta - bass, and Mike Hernandez - drums) is shaping the mold of indie rock with sultry guitar riffs, impassioned vocals, and confident lyrics. That, combined with melodic changes and instrumental dexterity, results in memorable, hum-able tunes.
The Conversation evolved from similar musical tastes and the break up of the bands Level and The End of Julia (Putnam and Hernandez, and Johnson's former bands respectively). Having established a reputation as an amazing live band in just over a year, they continue to win over new fans and friends. When the band's debut full length CD, "Last in Line," hits stores in Spring 2003, fans that have seen the band will want to be the first in line to pick up a copy of the CD.
Having just signed with St. Paul, Minnesota's Dead Letter Records, The Conversation will promote the Spring release of their CD by hitting the road in January of 2003 on a three month tour, nothing new for these veterans of the road who are growing towards a trend of non-stop touring. The Conversation has over 250 shows under their collective belt in just under 19 months with radio airplay on 10 different radio stations in six different states. For an indie rock band on an indie label doing things with a DIY attitude, the future is bright for indie rock's newest up-and-comers, The Conversation.
