Artist description
Someone took a book off the shelf. Closing her eyes, she opened the book and touched a
fingertip to the page. The words she touched were "dark riders"... The hollows and back
roads of the Appalachian foothills hold a long tradition of mystery and balladry. Perhaps in
solving the problem of naming the group through bibliomancy, the Dark Ryders echo the
primitive, magical thinking that lies at the source of that tradition. It is an echo of a distant
world peopled by strange, sometimes dangerous characters, a world of bootleggers, gun runners
and star-crossed lovers, where ghosts may wander abroad in the full light of day. It is a world
where everything happens for a reason, a reason beyond comprehension, and where the presence
of elemental forces is personified in angels... and demons. The Dark Ryders are a group of
writers and musicians who collaborate together, united by the belief that the creation of music is
the realization of magic. Their objective is to capture as much of that magic as possible in their
recordings, and to share it with everyone, especially those who listen for echoes of the other
world that lies alongside our reality, within the grasp of our imaginations. |
