    Artist History
Billy Got Fired, based in Guisborough "Rock City" (near Middlesbrough), formed in May 2002. Over the next few months they gigged regularly around the North East, everywhere from Newcastle Arts Center to The Cornerhouse in Middlesbrough to The Studio in Hartlepool and many more. They played with some of the North's top bands including Joe Ninety, And None Of Them Knew They Were Robots, This Aint Vegas, 46 Itchy, Mavis and Stone Coda - as well as landing support slots with some ace touring bands such as The Parkinsons, Lightyear and Tiny Elvis. In August 2002, they recorded their first Studio demo "Input Machine Lie" at Mirage Studios in Marske. Although far from perfect, the demo showcased the bands undoubted potential which was noted by many a reviewer. The CD featured 5 tracks - The Lights Outside, This Year's Model, Marina Del Rey, 120 Everything and Duplicity is Such A Lovely Name. "Input Machine Lie" was well received by both fans and by the press... After recording Input Machine Lie a few changes took place. The main one being vocalist Nick Wesson (ex Summer Book Club) leaving the band due to musical differences. The band struggled to find a suitable replacement and did a number of gig's with Phil from Caught In The Headlights taking over the vocal duties, but he wanted to concentrate on his own band. It was then decided that Lee Maughan should leave the band to tighten up the sound with just one guitarist... a few more changes occurred before things eventually just died... Billy Got Fired May 2002 - March 2003. It was fun. Cheers.

    Press Reviews
"Billy Got Fired do this angsty pop lark with a precision and flair which betrays their diminutive stature, and one would hope, and indeed, one could do worse than gamble, that by the time their next release comes around, we might just have a fucking inferno on our hands" - James Jam @ DrownedInSound.com ::: "This CD is the first steps of a band with what looks to be all the ingredients of something pretty good just waiting to flourish. Check them out!" - Stephen Gorton @ RandomDamage.net ::: "I reckon with a little honing of the sound and a little more urgency in parts that BILLY GOT FIRED will turn out to be a band worth keeping an eye on." - Russell Remains @ Fracture Fanzine ::: "...their particular brand of Ataris style racket packs the genuine melodic clout Hundred Reasons have been trying so desperately to achieve." - Paul Emmet @ FakeDIY.co.uk
