Artist description
Marilyn Monsoon is one part aggression, one part rage, and ten parts attitude. We are not related to Marilyn Manson (although we do have similar names). We have a more classic rock sound. All in all, we are a sonic explosion of sound. |

Artist History
Marilyn Monsoon was formed in 1988 in Dallas, TX when guitarist/songwriter Sean Suto and vocalist/keyboardist/all around freak, Bill Korson met in a coffee house. Together they formed a new hybrid of Smithsesque indie rock and Joy Divisionesque emo synthpop. We never killed anyone. In 1992, we relocated to New York City where we met up with drummer Joey Jackson and bassist Mick Hagerty who later became known simply as "Meatball." In '95 we released our first album, "Throw it Down/Sick Sick Sons of Sodom." We had a brief stint opening for Verucca Salt, and during which time Meatball departed to join their ranks. We quickly regrouped and recorded our sophmore release "Supergush" in mid 1997. Since then, we have toured with a vast array of bands from Weezer to Type O Negative. 2000 saw the release of our tertiary release, "S.K.U.M. (Some Kind of Unity is Mandatory. Now we are in the final stages of recording our new one, tentatively titled "Buddy, I'm Tired." Which will be put out on our brand new label, I'm Tired of Records. |

Press Reviews
"This album is more accesible than most emo in that it contains more elements that typify modern pop, as opposed to the typical acoustic guitar/forlorn vocalist wankery that we've seen from so many other emo acts. I would say that "S.K.U.M." (which stands for Some Kind of Unity is Mandatory), isn't even a true emo disc; it transcends such a silly label." -Frank Juliano, Pitchfork Media |
