RATOBASHER "XAND"
Recording Information Unavailable)
This is kinda' weird. It's a 20 song opus,
but they're all short enough that it times
out to under a half hour. RATOBASHER is pretty
much one man, Nathan Westerlind and a whole bunch
of electronic toys. The first two cuts are a mix
of keyboard effects and garbled vocals, didn't do
much for me. By the third cut, "Bridge that Must
be Burned," firing up speedy beats from the drum
machine. At times it veers off the break beats for
some classically influenced Goth. It's gothic enough
to get depressed to and catchy enough to dance to.
Tracks four and five "Orchestrated Maniacal Crime" and
"It Is He Who Turns The Screws" throws in found noise of
industrial machinery in between it's heavy bass lines.
"Last Call" offers a combination of fuzzed out bass rifts
and fuzzy industrial beats for a real head trip. I'm thinking
that I should've smoked a big joint before listening to this.
Unfortunately times short. Nathan was short on these CDs and
requested, "If you don't like it, give it back." Well, I'm
keeping it. If drug influenced psychedelic techno is for you,
drop Nathan a line at bassesofdeath@hotmail.com. Maybe he'll
be able to dig up a few more CDs. |
