Artist description Defbyvolume is a studio project started by john castellain.The aim was to experiment with no aim of pleasing anyone exept ourselves.the album State Of Man is different to most.It contains a mixture of Genres not normally foun mixed together.and from track to track it varies considerably.John Castellain composed all of the material and recorded it.He has been a live and session muso as well as a Producer,Engineer,and Composer.He lives near Melbourne and with the assistance of friends willing to help, STATE OF MAN was brought to fruition.

Artist History John Castellain has played in many Australian bands and supported many major ones, including David Lee Roth, with Steve Vai and Greg Bissonette(Joe Satriani).Hes supported many Australian acts such as Cold Chisel,Angels,Dragon,and many more.He has played in many bands and produced many albums over the years.His favourite instrument is Guitar,although he plays Bass,Drums,Keys as well. Others involved were,Peter Quince(Drums),Tony Palmer(Drums),Paul McIntosh Bass and Acoustic guitar in 'Another World'.Graeme Smith for his humour,Lady and Fluff(my dogs R.I.P)and the help of others who helped out with good deals on studio gear.Trevor McPherson for the excellent artwork and sponsership,Gerard for the Web site(now under full reconstruction).My family,especially my daughter Rebekah for her support.She loves 'Hey Diddle Diddle'..thats why I put it on my MP3.com page. Defbyvolume is on-going project(in between others)and a new album 'Test Of Time' is slowly evolving and is quite different to 'State of Man'.
