Artist History
Having learned lessons in dynamics from their backyard neighbor, the Atlantic Ocean, the Virginia Beach-based Sea Of Souls has evolved into one of the East Coast’s best kept secrets.
In the band’s history, they’ve released 5 CDs (Titanic, Feed The Machi nery, Scars &
Designs, 181, & Anthology), performed countless shows, and received accolades from radio, press, celebrities, and most importantly, thousands of loyal fans. Born in 1991, Sea Of Souls
was formed by vocalist/bassist/songwriter Andrew McNeely when he grew tiresome of his
previous group. He made a list, a recipe of sound, vision, and senses of what would go into
making a great band (right down to the smell of incense emanating from the stage). His vision was that of a powerful, melodic, structured group, screaming feedback, thick guitars, tribal drums, undeniable grooves, and most of all, well-written, meaningful lyrics & songs.
The result was Sea Of Souls.
Fast forward to 1999, when the band (consisting of drummer Bill Adams, guita r ist Michael Doyle, and McNeely), picked up John Adkins. Originally brought in to record a side project, Adkins’ strength as a songwriter/vocalist added a shot of adrenaline to the band. The alignment forged a new Sea Of Souls. Diverse vocal styles, s ol id arrangements, incredible stage presence, and strong musicianship are staples of Sea Of Souls both on record and in concert.
The Spring of 2002 holds new promise for the band. With the release of their long-awaited 6th full-length studio CD, Fl owe rs & Landmines, Sea Of Souls is ready to step into the light. The new CD is their best yet, well-written, sonically strong, and dripping with mass appeal —
The collection of 15 songs range from the band’s trademark heavy/melodic rockers to songs wit h po p hooks and harmonies. SEA OF SOULS has enjoyed radio play through the years with their 1994
single “Heroine,” and the songs on “Flowers & Landmines” should return the band to the airwaves. The first single “Gone,” a powerful driving rocker, has r eceived high praise from national radio promoters and has been played on both WNOR FM99 and 96X. Other songs such as “Wasting My Time,” and “Leaving Here Tomorrow” are equally suited on both modern and active rock formats. “Flowers & Landmines” is a div erse collection of well-crafted rock songs with tremendous appeal for a wide audience. Your next “favorite song” is on this CD.0›› |
