Press Reviews WASTOID - "Say Your Prayers" (Private) This is the kinda stuff I love to get to review! WASTOID are a five-piece band from Philadelphia playing some of the best late 70's / early 80's style metal I've heard in ages! How many albums in the last few years have you purchased that have four songs with the word "Rock" in the title? Killers like "Let it Rock" and "Rock Hott(and Burn Out)" are totally kickin', cruisin-down-the road-with-the-windows-open assaults on your eardrums in the vein of LEPPARD's "Rocks Off". The absolutely paint-peeling twin axe work from guitarists Joe Johnson and Chris DiPinto (somewhat reminiscent of the godly early REO stuff with Gary Richrath!!) provides supercharged sparks on every song, kicking the band into overdrive. The instrumental track "Leif Erickson Overture" recalls the best of the early MAIDEN instrumentals like "Strange World", again with lots of blistering guitar harmonies from Johnson and DiPinto. Now, there's some keyboard stuff on a couple tracks that they could lose, as well as some confusing Satan references (again, like the early LEPPARD stuff), but who cares!!This band put together this awesome raging slab on their own budget(that will stay in my car for months) did all their own artwork for the release, and laced the entire work with a "f*ck you if you don't like it" attitude.
