Artist History
- ! -
The modern man project started up in 1993 as a three piece company
influenced by acts like Elvis Costello, XTC, No Means No, Devo,
Descendents and all other great punk rock and new wave bands you can
think of. An incredible small label decided that they deserved the
right to exist so in 1995 a MCD-"Sliding along that slippery slope"
showed its ugly face. Great response followed in the reviews "I've
played this about 50 times in three days. Fantastic job./Martin
McMartin from Flipside-one of the biggest punk magazines in USA" but
it was poorly backed up promotion wise.
Dressed up in
different suits either totally white with weird glasses or green,
blue and red suits and robotic moves they rocked all the places the
played in. But many people were confused. What is this? Since then
the pupils seems to have become more open minded. What is The Flakes?
You know the answer. What ever you think we are we agree.
Another slab of modern technology popped out in 1996 "What do you
call that noise?" a full length CD that got 4 out of 5 in Sweden's
biggest skateboard magazine "Edge". No promotion or ads what so ever.
The Flakes got bankrupt and decided to call it a day.
Kiss Ass
One of Americas most known pop punk acts Descendents heard the bands
CD's when they played in The Flakes home town. They liked it so much
so when a member from the band asked Bill Stevenson(drummer and
famous producer) if he would like to produce The Flakes if they
reformed someday he said "No doubt about it!". That kept the spirit
alive for at least one of the members that The Flakes will someday
reform.
Starting a cult for the modern man
And then they we're two and then they become three and at last they
became four. It all happened in 2001! The line up was complete again.
What you hear now is a result of honest work and hard dedication to
pick up where The Flakes left off in 1996. Listen, shrink and learn!

Press Reviews
From Flipside: What a great discovery! Short, tight songs by this Swedish
Trio who appear to have chewed up killer influences like the Descendents,
XTC, Devo and spit out a sound all their own. Fuck, hearing stuff like this
makes the hours of sitting at this desk through rehash punk and bad art every
other all worth it. I've played this about 50 times in three days.
Fantastic job! /Martin McMartin |
